Kevin had a conference in Adelaide so why not tag along and live/work in Adelaide for five days?
Jetstar delayed the flight because they didn’t have an AC unit and the plane was too hot for passengers. We loaded an hour late, sat for a half hour, then deplaned for another hour. On landing, the air bags dropped from above my seat. Joy.
Our first full day was a Saturday and we were surprised how empty the city was. On a main street, we stood in the middle, and there were no cars. We had a brief walk in the botanic garden, walked through the Central Market, went to the South Australian Museum, and met new friends for dinner.
On Sunday, we took a botanic garden tour and went to a meet up for attendees of the conference.
On Monday, I walked along the river and took a Botanic Park tour (different from the garden) and had dinner with a colleague of Kevin. It was Kevin’s birthday so he picked Korean BBQ for dinner. Yum.
On Tuesday, I returned to the river walk the garden specifically to experience the “Seeing the Invisible” AR hidden art exhibition. We trained to the beach for dinner with friends.
It rained on Wednesday so I didn’t go to the garden for a fifth time. I wandered in the rain and in the National Library until it was time for our plane.
I’m glad we went but also glad I don’t live there. I think I would get bored quickly. The front desk help said that Adelaide was like a large country town rather than a city.
